What does Wycliffe Hall do?

Wycliffe Hall is an evangelical Anglican seminary in the University of Oxford and since its beginning in 1877, has equipped pastors, teachers, missionaries and preachers with the training to share the gospel afresh to each generation. It has a unique position as a theological college within the University: it sits in the heart of an institution that has academics who come from all over the world to engage in cutting-edge research and scholarship.

What is Dr McBay's role?

As of January 2024, Dr McBay took up a new fellowship in minstry and preaching (see the announcement here). This new position is an expansion of the Hall's staff. Wycliffe Hall were looking for someone with on-the-ground experience of ministry as well as expertise in biblical studies - two things which Dr McBay is passionate about having served at St. Martin's for 9 years alongside finishing her PhD in Second Temple Judaism. In this new position, she will be teaching biblical studies, homiletics, and helping students think through the reality of ministry from a biblical vantage point.

Having spent her undergraduate years at Wycliffe Hall and then having trained for ordination at the former St John's College in Nottingham, Dr McBay knows just how formative (and transformative!) residential theological training can be. She is glad to be part of a great team that will help teach, equip, and train the next generation of men and women to be ministers of the gospel and Christian leaders in the world.
